about

These sessions are completely improvised with the only preconception of setting an intention of healing. The music is driven by feeling and it evolves with the synergy of the instruments and the musicians. The pieces flow in accordance to the mood of the space and therefore have no formula or rules.

The purpose of these sessions is to explore instruments and sound as a vehicle for calmness and healing. We aim to reach a meditative state when playing and hope the listener does too.

Elki Guillen has been researching cacti for many years, as an alternative crop for surviving through the climate crisis. The Wolves Lane Center has became the home for these plants and epicenter for cacti research in the UK, acting also as a community educational and connectivity space.

When we met Elki, the first thing he asked was if we could bring some music to the plants, if we could come and produce frequencies and vibrations for the crops. His believe in music as a main 'nutrient' for plant health, happiness and growth comes from the learnings of his grandmother in Mexico. As a kid he experienced music being played for plants as part of the daily care process, his grandmother singing and talking to the plants.

We wanted to honour this tradition and connect with the crops at 'La Nopalera', creating a space our own growth, health and happiness too.

about

Calma London, UK

A journey into your inner soul, an offering of
healing and calmness through music and sound.

“An improvisation rite is not a musical composition; it does not attempt to influence the music that will be played,
at most it may establish a community of feeling, or a communal starting point, through ritual.”
(Cornelius Cardew, Scratch Orchestra)
